In the heart of Monferrato, in a dominating position, a few km from Alessandria’s historical centre, gorgeous property composed of a castle dating back to the 10th Century, when it was originally built to contrast with the Saracenic attacks.
The property, built on an inaccessible tuff spur, enjoys a superb position, from where dominates the entire valley offering a view on the Monferrato hills and its vineyards.
Originally a watching tower, the property was afterwards enriched with the eighteenth Century impressive façade and the formal Italian garden.
In 1700, then, the last feudatory of the town built a small chapel in the suspended garden, while in 1830 they made some changes to the façade.
The several restoration interventions made the Castle structurally sound, but it is still in need of a complete restoration to become habitable.
The total surface is 1850 square metres, but it is possible to develop it to create 11 bedrooms and ballrooms for events and meeting. The property is completed by 7000 square metres of park with formal Italian garden. . |
